Every fifth infertility case is due to abortions, Kazakh Healthcare Ministry

ASTANA. KAZINFORM "Abortions cause every fifth infertility case in Kazakhstan," republican coordinator of the Healthcare and Social Development Ministry of Kazakhstan Gul Omarova told a briefing held at the Central Communications Service in Astana.

"Infertility is a tragedy for some families. The incidence of infertility in couples ranges between 15%-16%. Every fifth infertility case is due to abortions," she added. "Kazakhstan applies highly specific technologies to treat sterility such as in-vitro fertilization. The number of abortions decreased threefold for the past ten years the countrywide, nevertheless the country's abortion rates are still high against the European countries.
