1,500 hit hard by Saturday quake in XUAR

BEIJING. KAZINFORM Above 1,500 people were injured in the earthquake that occurred in the Kyzylsu-Kyrgyz Autonomy of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China, the central mass media report. According to the China's centre of seismic stations, a magnitude 5.0 quake struck on Saturday at 12:50 Astana time.

The quake's epicentre was located near the administrative center, the city of Atush. 51 houses were ruined so far at Karazhol rural settlement, near Atush. 1,508 locals found temporary shelters at their relatives, state agencies and clinics. Karazhol is a home to 17,499 people.
