ASTANA. KAZINFORM - This year 10 new kindergartens and 5 schools will be commissioned in the capital, this has been announced today by Mayor of Astana during the reporting meeting with citizens.

"Astana's population has tripled since it became the capital in 1997. Every day about 60 children come into the world in the capital," said Adilbek Jaksybekov. According to his words, the shortage of places in preschool institutions of the city equals to more than 37,000. More than 83 thousand children are on the waiting list. "We have to understand that this figure will grow," said the Mayor. He stressed that this problem should be solved within the framework of public-private partnerships. "In 2015 it is planned to commission 10 kindergartens for 2,440 children and 1 extension to a kindergarten for 60 kids. There will be put into operation 5 new schools for 5075 students and 2 outbuildings for 1050 kids. This year the capital will begin the construction of 5 kindergartens for 1,200 children and 5 secondary schools for 4800 pupils," said the head of the city.
