100th birth anniversaries of Kazakh writer and composer to be included in UNESCO Calendar

 State Counselor, Chairman of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO Yerlan Karin pointed out that such a decision of the UNESCO General Conference will contribute to the promotion of Kazakh culture in the world, Kazinform Agency reports.

At the 42nd UNESCO General Conference, Kazakhstan’s proposals to include the 100th anniversary of writer Berdibek Sokpakbayev in 2024 and 100th anniversary of composer, conductor, dombra player and teacher Nurgisa Tlendiyev in 2025 in the UNESCO Calendar were supported, said Karin.

The Kazakh State Counselor also noted that the proposal of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan on the celebration of 950 years of the first encyclopedic dictionary of Turkic languages Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk written in 1074 by Mahmud al-Kashgari was backed by the conference participants as well.

The UNESCO General Conference’s decision will contribute to the promotion of the Kazakh culture in the world, concluded Karin.
