11.5 thousand students to receive additional educational grants: Minister of Education

ASTANA. February 17. KAZINFORM /Bauyrzhan Mukanov/ 11.5 thousand university students studying on a fee - paying basis will receive additional educational grants, Minister of Education and Science Zhansseit Tuimebayev has said at the Government?s session today, Kazinform reports.

?Government?s draft Resolution provides for the award of additional educational grants to the third - year and undergraduate students studying on a fee - paying basis in state and private universities. The grants will be given for excellent study only?, Z. Tuimebayev said. ?Thus, about 11.5 thousand students will receive additional grants to the amount of more than KZT 3.5 bln?, the Minister added. The country numbers more than 633 thousand students at present. 33490 grants have been allotted for 2008-2009 academic year that is 1000 grants more than in 2006. The average cost of Kazakhstan's educational grant makes KZT 187.6 thousand.
