12 May - International Nurses Day

ALMATY. May 12. KAZINFORM Today is the International Nurses  Day (IND)  which is celebrated around the world on May 12 , to mark the contributions nurses make to society.

The professional nurses day is celebrated  on the day of birth of a well-known Englishwoman Florence NAitinghail who organized the first mercy sisters'  service during the Crimean War (1853-1856).

A typical stereotype of a nurse who takes the wounded from the battlefield or standing at the operating table was formed during the war.

In Kazakhstan, the holiday is celebrated since 1992.
