12 oil railway tanks derail in east Russia, no spill
VLADIVOSTOK. March 12. KAZINFORM Twelve oil railway tanks bound for the Pacific port of Vladivostok derailed in the region on Saturday, causing no victims or oil spill but damaging 200 meters of rails, a local rescuer said; Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
"At the moment, three oil tanks have been put back on tracks, and the damaged rails will be repaired by 2 pm local time," the official said.
He said the oil tanks carrying 60 metric tons of oil each had not turned over during the derailment. Experts said the accident could have been caused by defects from tank manufacturers, the Russian Railways monopoly said on its Web site.
