A 14-year-old Xenia Prozorova from Almaty region became a two-time champion of Kazakhstan over the past nine months, Kazinform News Agency reports quoting the Sports Development Directorate.

As earlier reported, the Men’s and Women’s Individual and Team Weightlifting Championships of Kazakhstan kicked off in Almaty region bringing together 212 athletes (136 men and 76 women) from 17 regions of Kazakhstan.

Winners and runners-up in two women’s and men’s weight categories were announced on Day 2.

Sergei Chuyev from Zhetysu region won gold by snatching a total of 264 kg (119+145) in the men’s individual 61 kg weight class, followed by Maxat Kuantkan and Azamat Tolegen from Kyzylorda region with 260 kg (118+142) and 255 kg (111+144) respectively.

Yulia Troshkina of Akmola region won the championship title by lifting 169 kg (78+91) in the women’s 55 kg. Regina Nikiforova from Zhetysu region secured second place, while Raushan Suyunbek from Zhambyl region rounded out the top three in the snatch, clean and jerk individual battles.

Xenia Prozorova aged 14 from Almaty region stunned her rivals lifting 190 kg (87+103) in the women’s 59 kg finals. Dariya Balabayuk from Karaganda region took home silver with 174 kg (78+96) and Valeria Ivanova from Zhetysu region finished third with 170 kg (80+90).

In February at the Weightlifting Championships of Kazakhstan, Xenia Prozorova won gold in the women’s 55 kg finals snatching 80 kg and lifting 95 kg in clean and jerk. Her coaches are Azamat Nurullayev and Emir Abatov.

Another highlight of the Championships of Kazakhstan is that 13-year-old Snezahana Kashkarova earned the Master of Sport International Class title, a remarkable accomplishment at such a young age.
