1.7 mln tourists visited Almaty in 2024

For the past nine months some 1.7 million tourists, including 507,000 international travelers, visited the city of Almaty, Kazinform News Agency quotes Almaty mayor Yerbolat Dossayev as saying.

Almaty ranks among the top 5 ski resorts and is named one of the 10 best places to visit. Almaty received the status of the best tourist destination at the international exhibition Qatar Travel Mart 2024 which brought together 60 countries in November this year.

The mayor highlighted the city of Almaty became the key hub to attract investments in the no-resource sector. For the past 11 months, the city attracted 1.5 trillion tenge in capital investments. The most growth is seen in the processing sector, education, transport, healthcare, water supply and disposal.

He added Almaty plans to attract 2 trillion tenge in investments into the city economy in 2024 and 2.3 trillion next year.

As earlier reported, The New York Times included Almaty in the list of 52 travel destinations worth visiting in 2024. Renowned Italian magazine Condé Nast Traveller listed Almaty among the world’s top five ski resorts.
