18 minors killed in traffic accidents across Kazakhstan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - In January 2014 1210 road accidents were registered across Kazakhstan which killed and injured 1737 people, according to the Committee on legal statistics and special records of the Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan.

"Among 148 people killed in car accidents there were 96 men and 52 women, including 18 minors. 790 men and 799 women including 256 minors were among 1589 injured," said the committee. The largest number of fatalities in road accidents has been registered in Almaty region - 35, South Kazakhstan - 23, Aktobe - 15. Almaty city leads in the number of traffic accident - 372, South Kazakhstan region- 157, Almaty region - 132, East Kazakhstan region- 127. Statistics shows that the causes of road accidents did not change. Thus, the majority of road accidents are caused by drivers who violate traffic rules. Meanwhile, in comparison with last year the number of accidents decreased by 12.6%, while the number of deaths caused by road accidents lowered by 7%.
