18 more gold medals for Kazakhstan at 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Doha
Kazakhstan added 39 more medals at the now-running 2024 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Doha, Qatar, Kazinform News Agency cites the Weightlifting Federation of Kazakhstan.
According to the Federation, they include 18 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals.
Yersultan Turssynbekov was put fourth in the boys youth 67kg category with a total of 278kg, 150kg snatch (5th) + 128kg clean and jerk (2nd).
Alibek Rakhymberdi won bronze in the junior boys 81kg category by lifting 330kg, 184kg snatch (3rd) + 146kg clean and jerk (4th).
Altynai Tanibergenova added a silver medal in the girls -64kg session with a total of 192kg, 108kg snatch (2nd) + 84kg clean and jerk (2nd).
Kira Danilova won silver in the girls -74kg category after lifting a total of 299kg, 110kg snatch (2nd) + 89kg clean and jerk (1st). Her compatriot Bibinur Yssmynova settled for bronze after her total lift of 170kg, 95kg snatch (3rd) + 75kg clean and jerk (3rd).
Aruzhan Yerimbet brought Team Kazakhstan the girls -76kg bronze for a total effort of 174kg, 95kg snatch (2nd) + 79kg clean and jerk (3rd).
Viktoriya Novikova claimed a silver medal in the girls U20 81kg session with her total lift of 212kg, 92kg clean & jerk (2nd) and 120kg snatch (2nd), while Saniya Ormanbayeva claimed the bronze medal by lifting 209kg in total, 118kg snatch (3rd) + 91kg clean and jerk (3rd).
Below is a list of undisputed champions according to the Federation:
Alikhan Askerbai claimed the youth and junior boys -67kg titles, with gold in clean & jerk category (133kg) and bronze in snatch category (151kg), while another gold medal in overall with a total of 184kg.
Akzhol Kurmanbek set two world records and a new Asian record in the boys -73kg category, by lifting 316kg, 175kg snatch + 141kg clean and jerk, claiming three gold medals and the champion title of the 2024 Asian Championships.
Ayanat Zhumagali went home with a total of six gold medals, claiming youth and junior girls -76kg titles, with a total lift of 215kg (121kg snatch + 94kg clean and jerk).
Saniya Ormanbayeva clinched gold with a result of 209kg, 118kg snatch (1st) + 92kg clean and jerk (1st).
Alexey Churkin swept three gold medals in the boys 89kg after lifting a total of 360kg, 197kg snatch + 163kg clean and jerk.
Earlier it was reported Team Kazakhstan finished in the top three at the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships in Bahrain.
