19 thousand fires take place countrywide every year: Ministry of Emergencies

ASTANA. January 20. KAZINFORM /Bauyrzhan Mukanov/ Over 19 thousand fires were registered in the republic in 2008. Chairman of the Committee on fire fighting service of the Ministry of Emergencies Serik Aubakirov has made it public at the enlarged sitting of the board today, Kazinform reports.

?Financial loss from the fires comprised more than KZT 6 bln. 501 people died and 645 ones got injures and burns?, S. Aubakirov said. As the Chairman of the Committee noted, 68% of fires fall at residential areas, 11% ? at transport means, 5% ? at forest and steppe areas, 4% ? at production facilities and 3% ? at trade facilities and administration buildings. 11 thousand people were rescued by fire fighters last year.
