1st fantastic stories contest 'Baikonur-2011' to start tomorrow in Astana

ASTANA. February 28. KAZINFORM The first republican literary contest of fantastic stories will start tomorrow in Astana. The contest is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the independence and to the 50th anniversary of the first manned flight into space. The contest is entitled 'Baikonur-2011'. The press service of the Association of graduates of the 'Bolashak' international scholarship informs.

The main purpose of the contest is to discover new fantastic story writers of Kazakhstan, to establish a new generation of writers of Kazakhstan. The organizers set such goals as promoting love and respect for the homeland among young people, involving the youth into the process of considering the future of the country through literature, development of modern Kazakh literature through promotion of the genre.

The contest is conducted among school students and students aged 14 - 18. The official information resource and a platform of the contest is www.baikonur.proza.kz site. Everybody who is willing to participate in the contest may post their works on this site and read and rate the stories already posted.

The works of the winners will be published in the first Kazakhstan's fiction book.
