20 percent of Azerbaijani citizens voted in Astana March 18
ASTANA. March 20. KAZINFORM A total of 20 percent of Azerbaijani citizens voted in Astana on March 18, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kazakhstan told Trend News.
Azerbaijan was holding a referendum on March 18 to amend 29 articles of the Constitution.
"Two polling stations opened in Kazakhstan, including one at a building of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Astana and another the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Aktau ," Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan Latif Gandilov said.
A list of the Azerbaijani citizens who temporarily live in Kazakhstan, registered at the consular and have the right to vote has been prepared, the ambassador said.
"A total of 745 people were registered in Astana and 352 in Aktau," Gandilov said.
Polling began in Astana started at 8.00 Astana time and 12 percent of electorates or 89 people voted by 10.00, he said.
Gandilov said the embassy formed election commission to implement the referendum and arrangements to referendum were held at a high level.
The Constitution was adopted in 1995. Amendments and changes were made in 2002, Trend News informs.
