2024 Paris: Kazakhstani fencers capture no medals in Men’s Epee Team event

Kazakhstan’s fencing team were upset in the Men’s Epee Team Table of 8 bout 2 at the Summer Olympics Games underway in Paris, France, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from Olympic.kz.

Kazakhstan lost to the Hungarian squad with a score of 30:45, leaving the event without medals. Team Kazakhstan will vie for 5-8th places in a match against Egypt.

Kazakhstan is represented by Vadim Sharlamov, Elmir Alimzhanov, and Ruslan Kurbanov at the event.

It bears to remind that judoka Yeldos Smetov clinched Kazakhstan’s first gold medal in judo. He won silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics and bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Gusman Kyrgyzbayev won judo bronze medal of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on July 28 by stunning Strahinja Bunčić from Serbia in men’s 66kg weight class.

Apart from two medals in judo, Kazakhstan also claimed one bronze in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team competition in Paris.

The 2024 Olympic Games is slated to be held from July 26 through August 11.
