20th Anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan marked in Islamabad

ASTANA. December 9. KAZINFORM On December 7, 2011 the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Pakistan hosted an official reception on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of Independence of Republic of Kazakhstan in the most fashionable hotel of Islamabad «Serena».

Members of the Government and Parliament of Pakistan, dignitaries, Heads of Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations, prominent representative of cultural and business circles, as well as leading mass-media, totaling over 500 persons attended the celebration, the press service of the Kazakh Embassy to Pakistan reports.

Senator Muhammad Shah Afridy, prominent political figure, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

The guests were acquainted with the major milestones of Kazakhstan's development and achievements of the country in 20 years of independence, and with the priorities of bilateral Kazakhstan-Pakistan cooperation.

The great deal of interest was paid to the foreign policy initiatives of Kazakhstan on regional and global security and stability including those put forward by the country in the capacity of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of OIC.

The documentaries on modern Kazakhstan were presented at the function and photo-exhibition about our country was displayed. The annual address to the nation by the President of Kazakhstan, books, souvenirs, newspapers and magazines about Kazakhstan were distributed.

The participants paid tribute to the success of Kazakhstan achieved in past 20 years of Independence under the leadership of the President Nursultan Nazarbayev. They have noted political prestige gained by the country and its increased role in international affairs.

Finally they extended best wishes for further prosperity and well-being of our country.
