20th anniversary of Semipalatinsk Test Site closing to be marked soon

EAST KAZAKHSTAN OBLAST. April 2. KAZINFORM Yesterday in Semey Akim (Governor) of the East Kazakhstan oblast Berdybek Saparbayev met with Olzhas Suleimenov, famous poet, writer, public-political figure and diplomat.

The issues of preparation for the 20th anniversary of closing of the Semipalatinsk nuclear testing site were discussed in the meeting, the press service of East Kazakhstan akimat informed Kazinform. Promotion of cooperation of the region with the international organizations, in particular, with the UNESCO was also touched upon. As is known, O. Suleimenov is Kazakhstan?s Permanent Representative to the UNESCO.
