23 people rescued in volcano area in El Salvador

SAN SALVADOR. December 29. KAZINFORM At least 23 people were rescued early Tuesday morning in the Ilamatepec volcano, in Santa Ana department, about 63 kilometers west of the capital of San Salvador, said Roberto Pacheco, head of Rescue Command. Kazinform refers to Xinhua.

Pacheco said there were six children, 13 women and four men in the group.

The people got lost on Monday night after they climbed the volcano's crater, 2,381 meters above sea level.

After the climb, the group tried to go down to the Coatepeque Lake, but they got lost and phoned emergency services for help.

All of the people were found by rescuers on Monday morning and were taken to the command post where they received medical treatment. Kazinform cites Xinhua. See www.en.rian.ru for full version
