250 million children forced to work - OSCE Special Representative

KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ According to data of the International Labor Organization (ILO), about 250 million children forced to work, and more than half out of them in the worst form. OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings Maria Grazia Giammarinaro has informed of it.

She emphasized, that according to the UN, children make up 50 percent of all victims of human trafficking identified. "But we do not have a full comprehensive picture, because only few cases of human trafficking become a subject of investigation", she noted.

According to her, children often become commerce commodity in conflict regions, which exacerbate the problem of human trafficking. According to the UN, about 30,000 children aged 8 years become soldiers and are forced to participate in hostilities.
