260 women are working in Kazakhstan as Akims (mayors) - Nazarbayev
"Today in Kazakhstan in the sphere of public administration 55% of the employees are women. This means that more than 50,000 women are working in the field of state management. 260 women are the governors (mayors) of districts and rural districts. In the current Majilis, compared with the previous Parliament, there is the 2.5 times increase of women's representation.
"Women make up 24% of all deputies. It's very high even in the world ranking, " said the President, speaking in Akorda at the meeting with representatives of women's community of Kazakhstan on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Nazarbayev also noted that as a result of last certification of law enforcement officers, women also showed the best results. "The men in uniform were thinking that they were the main things, but women appeared to better", he said.
