297mln tons of cargo set to be transported by rail in Kazakhstan this year
Kazakhstan is to see the total volume of cargo transported by rail at 297 million tons this year, the country’s transport minister Marat Karabayev said at a briefing, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
The total cargo transported by rail is expected to stand at 297mln tons this year, on average 3.5% more than the previous years. An average rise of 19% is reported in transit, said Karabayev.
The Kazakh minister noted that the design capacity of division points with China stands at 28 mln tons.
This year, 27mln tons of cargo are set to be transported through these division points this year, reaching its peak. In 2024-25, 20 additional station tracks are to be built, thus increasing the capacity of the division points by an additional 14 million tons.
