3 killed in road accident in Karaganda region

Three people died in a road accident on the Karaganda-Balkhash highway, Kazinform News Agency reports citing Polisia.kz.

The tragedy occurred at around 02:00 am in Shet district of Karaganda region, on the Karaganda-Balkhash highway, 10 kilometers away from Akzhal village.

As per preliminary data, 24-year-old driver Chevrolet Cobalt fell asleep at the wheel, moved to the oncoming lane and smashed into a Mercedes-Benz Actros truck.

“The driver of Chevrolet Cobalt and his two passengers died at the scene,” chief of the local police department Kuanysh Kazhkerov said.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched.
