According to local police's investigation, the bomb exploded while Thai security forces were about to reach a targeted area in Bae-jang village, from where they did hear several gun shootings in early Wednesday morning. The police believed the bomb attack was done by suspected insurgents. The country's deep South comprises mainly three southernmost provinces -- Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and some parts of Songkla province.
