30,000 cu m of meltwater pumped away in Pavlodar region

30,000 cubic meters of meltwater were pumped away in Pavlodar and Aksu cities and Pavlodar district for the past 24 hours. 620 bags full of sand and 45 tons of inert materials were placed along the Atameken-Aksu-Koktobe-Kurchatov republican highway. Gauging stations are set up at flood-prone districts in Bayanaul district, Pavlodar region, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Over 50 units of machinery, 115 people and 21 motor pumps are deployed in flood protection efforts. Artificial dams are installed at four sites.

Ashysu, Aidos, Bala-Shiderty and Karasu Rivers pose a threat to the locals in spring. One of the flood-prone districts in Pavlodar region is Bayanaul district.

As earlier reported, this year Pavlodar region is at higher risk of flooding since precipitation surpassed normal by 56%. 43 rural settlements situated in the lows are being monitored.
