348 thousand jobs to be provided countrywide in 2009: Labor Ministry

ASTANA. January 28. KAZINFORM /Bauyrzhan Mukanov/ 348 thousand new working places are to be provided this year in the republic. Minister of Labor and Social Protection Berdibek Saparbayev has made it public at the enlarged session of the board today, Kazinform reports.

?This year we will start realization of 5 785 projects which provide for opening of 348 thousand working places?, the Minister said. According to B. Saparbayev, KZT 5.2 bln is envisaged in the local budgets for organization of public works for 94 thousand people, for professional training and retraining of 25 thousand people and for establishment of 10 thousand social working places. In 2008 the Ministry provided citizens with 238.2 thousand jobs. 216.6 thousand or 86% of the people who had applied for assistance in this matter were employed. About 26.4 thousand of the unemployed passed training and re-training courses and 100.7 thousand people participated in public works.
