35,000 people join citywide spring clean-up in Astana

Citywide spring clean-up reportedly brought together some 35,000 residents of Astana city as part of the Tazaru campaign, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from the Astana’s city administration.

Astana residents took action to make the city cleaner ahead of the warmer days.

Government officials, volunteers, youth, public figures, businessmen and many others turned out to join the traditional citywide campaign.

Participants of the campaign cleaned public places and streets of trash removing some 60,000 tons of garbage and putting forth effort to clean up some 52 million square meters of the city area.

This year Kazakhstan marks Nauryz meiramy in a new 10-day format. The Day of Cleanup and Renewal is observed on March 23.
