4 Kazakhstanis convicted for terrorist activities in Syria

PAVLODAR. KAZINFORM - Two 26-year-old residents of Ekibastuz town have been detained and arrested by special services of Kazakhstan in October 2013. Young people left Kazakhstan and illegally crossed the Turkish-Syrian border. They were suspected of training at terroristic camp in Syria.

The accused Abdusalim Murzabayev and Azamat Kazbayev were convicted of crimes. They were sentenced to 7 years imprisonment in a penal colony. Berik Zhakupov and Boris Murzabayev were convicted under Art. 233-3 Part 2 "financing of terrorist or extremist activities". They have been charged with three-year suspended sentences with a probation period of 2 years.
