40 road accidents recorded in Astana since morning
40 road accidents have been reported in Astana since early morning, Kazinform News Agency learned from the local police department.
Black ice formed on the roads of the city due to protracted rain and strong wind gusts since early morning.
Police warn the Astana residents to use caution on the roads, while drivers are requested to strictly observe road traffic rules, speed limit and safe distance.
Secondary schools and colleges in Kostanay region shifted to online learning for heavy precipitation and black ice. Some roads and highways were shut down in the region.
According to the emergencies authorities, most parts of the North Kazakhstan region will see rain and snow, black ice and blizzard on November 22-23. Wind speed will reach 15-20 meters per second, sometimes gusting to 23-28 meters per second and exceeding 30 meters per second in the south, east of the region today, and November 23 in southern and western areas.
The authorities urge the residents to refrain from long-distance travel by cars, hunting and fishing, and take children under special control.
