48 air operators in Kazakhstan meet ICAO requirements

KAZINFORM - Eight certificates have been revoked, four operators have been suspended following the audit of 60 Kazakh airlines conducted together with the inspectors of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Minister of Transport and Communications Askar Zhumagaliyev has said today.

At the beginning of this year there were introduced the rules of certification of services involved in aircraft handling and operation of radiotechnical communications and navigational equipment in Kazakhstan. A single airports authority was established. An ICAO training center for aviation security was opened.

In addition, since January last year, experts of the ICAO Technical Cooperation Bureau provide to the aeronautical authorities of Kazakhstan a consultative support to address audit findings of 2009. The next ICAO audit is scheduled in Kazakhstan this year, the web-site of the Prime Minister reports. As a result of joint work 80 amendments have been introduced into the Kazakh law on the use of airspace and aviation, 69 of which relate to safety issues.

According to the Transport and Communications Ministry, the Civil Aviation Committee consists of 65 qualified specialists, 40 of which are state inspectors.
