500 scouts participated in Searching for Future Energy quest

ASTANA. KAZINFORM Searching for Future Energy quest, initiated by Astana EXPO-2017 JSC was conducted at the picturesque Burabai National Park ashore Lake Chebachye. As much as 500 scouts, aged 12-18, from Kazakhstan, CIS member states, the UK, Germany, Hungary, etc. participated in the event.

This quest is part of the III Eurasian Jamboree, the largest gathering of scouts of Kazakhstan. The quest teams made video films about alternative energy, fulfilled tasks relating to alternative energy generation, organized a flash mob using freezelight technology and learnt more about fortcoming EXPO-2017. The day culminated with performance of music bands, fire show and launch of the handmade wind power generator, Astana EXPO 2017 National Company's press release reads.

"The event aims at demonstrating the nomadic life. We want children to feel what scouting is, to live in tents and make fire" said Yevgenyi Rybalko, Executive Director of Kazakhstan Scouts Organization. We have also covered Future Energy issues as the theme of EXPO-2017. Today's activities run under the auspices of EXPO 2017," he added.

Ravshan Babaeva, Leader of the Scout Movement of Azerbaijan said that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan youth work closely in the area of environmental protection and environmental education. "We are happy to take part in the activities, organized before and during EXPO 2017. It will be an invaluable experience for us," she emphasized.

The event is also purposed to develop environmental culture in young people, engage them in Future Energy ideas and attract potential volunteers to organization of Astana EXPO-2017.
