500 thousand containers handled at China-Kazakhstan logistics cooperation base in Lianyungang

A total of 500,000 standard TEU containers have been handled at the China-Kazakhstan logistics cooperation base in Lianyungang (Jiangsu Province, East China) since its opening in 2014, Xinhua reported citing Nanjing Customs.

The range of goods delivered by China-Europe trains through Lianyungang to Central Asia includes more than 400 items, including household appliances, pharmaceuticals and construction materials.

This base holds a leading position in China, in terms of the volume of transit transportation of Central Asian ferroalloys, potassium fertilizers, and cotton yarn.

In 2023,the freight trains operating along the China-Europe international railway freight routes and departing from the Lianyungang logistics cooperation base transported up to 66,100 standard containers, which is 10.7% more than in the previous year.

Being the first real platform project launched under the Belt and Road Initiative, this base is becoming an important hub for cross-border cargo transportations on the Eurasian continent
