56 Almaty residents honored with state awards on eve of Independence Day

ALMATY. December 14. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ According to President Nursultan Nazarbayev's Decree on the eve of the Independence Day 56 Almaty residents were honored with state awards which were handed over in the Almaty akimat (administration) .

Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov has said it at a solemn meeting and concert in honor of the Independence Day.

"The Almaty residents are proud that our city is a cradle of the Kazakh statehood. The Declaration of independence of Kazakhstan as adopted here 19 years ago", A.Yessimov noted.

The Mayor emphasized that Almaty has always been a cultural, touristic and financial-economic center of the country. The city is the only non-primary donor of the state budget. A.Yessimov noted that the city waits for the 7th Asian Winter Games.
