7 new schools to be put into service till late '09

ANA. August 24. KAZINFORM. /Gulnara Zhandagulova/ "By the end of the year 7 schools for 8 000 places will be put into operation in Astana", Head of the Astana Education Department A. Bimendina has said today at the August session of teaching employees.

The teaching staff of Astana convene annual meeting on August 24-26. The current meeting is devoted to the quality of education as a part of sustainable development and raising competitiveness of Kazakhstan.

"The problem of lack of seats in schools is being resolved. 12 new schools have already been built. 7 more schools for 8, 000 students will be put into service till the end of the year", according to A. Bimendina.

7, 739 teachers are employed in the city at present. 76 secondary schools have functioned in the academic year 2008-2009 in Astana; 64 of them are state schools, and 12 are private. There are also 38 public and 18 private kindergartens and 5 complexes of a school-kindergarten type in the city.
