8 dead as Albanian bus plunges into deep ravine
ATHENS. November 9. KAZINFORM At least eight people died and 35 were injured in a bus crash in southern Albania late on Monday, the Athens News Agency (ANA) reported; Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
The bus, owned by a Greek long-distance bus company, fell off a 120-meter (394-foot) cliff after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle on a wet road.
Most of the 49 passengers were Albanian citizens, ANA said.
Greek authorities offered Albania help in a rescue operation, and said the injured could be treated in a nearest Greek hospital.
According to local media reports, about 100 Albanian police and firefighters are taking part in the rescue at the crash site 150 kilometers (95 miles) south of the Albanian capital, Tirana; Kazinform cites RIA Novosti.
