8 killed in US drone strike in NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD. November 16. KAZINFORM At least eight people were killed and four others injured as US drones fired four missiles at a suspected militant hideout in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of South Waziristan which borders Afghanistan on Wednesday morning, reported local Urdu TV channel Channel 5; Kazinform cites Xinhua.

The report quoted unidentified sources as saying that the strike came at about 10 am local time and the target was a house suspected of being a hideout of militants in a hilly area of Jandola, a place sitting far deep in South Waziristan on its eastern side bordering inner Pakistan.

Identities of the killed are not known immediately.

On Tuesday morning, the US drones launched a strike in the neighbouring tribal area of North Waziristan, which killed seven suspected militants.

Wednesday's strike is the third of its kind in Pakistan since this month and the 62nd of its kind in 2011. A total of 524 people, most of whom are believed to be suspected militants, have reportedly been killed in such strikes so far this year.
