8 miners killed, 12 injured in Ukraine mine explosion

DONETSK. August 24. KAZINFORM Eight miners were killed and another twelve injured in a methane explosion at the Kirov mine in Makeevka, outside Donetsk, the territorial department of Ukraine's state industrial safety watchdog reported on Monday, Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.

The mine is owned by Makeevugol mining company.

The blast occurred at the east face of the pit on Sunday. After the explosion 120 miners who had been underground were evacuated.
