2,900 people die on roads in Kazakhstan each year, Kazinform News Agency reports.
As the Interior Ministry’s statistics show 85,609 people were killed in road accidents in Kazakhstan between 1992 and 2022.
At the same time, the country recorded a decrease in fatalities. 4,342 people died on roadways in 1991 that is 2.2 times more as compared to 2023. Until 2013 car crashes took the lives of no less than 3,000 people every year. Since 2014 the death rate decreased to 2,585 people a year.
As earlier reported, no less than 90,000 road traffic accidents occurred in Kazakhstan in 2023 that is 5.5 times more than the official data. Among the leading causes of traffic accidents are reckless driving, worn-out vehicles and poor road conditions.
