9 kindergartens to be built in Abai region in 3 years

Construction of two schools in Semey city, as well as one in Ayagoz, Aksuat, and Beskaragai districts each has begun this year, Nurzhan Akhmetkaliyev, head of the education department of the region, said, Kazinform News Agency reports. 

As part of the Comfortable school national project, it is planned to build 11 new schools for 5,700 places to address the shortage of school places by 2025 in the region. With the participation of KAZ Minerals Management, construction of a new 1,200-place school is underway in Semey. Within the comprehensive plan for development of Abai region for 2023-27, six small-class schools for 2,600 places and six extensions to schools are slated for construction, said Akhmetkaliyev.

Within public-private partnership, it is planned to build nine kindergartens before 2027 to address the shortage of places in the region.

In 2024, there are plans to open psychological and pedagogical correction rooms in Kurchatov town. Moreover, inclusion classrooms operate in the region’s 14 schools. This September, two more such classrooms for children with special educational needs will be opened in two schools in Semei city.
