948,000 received Kazakhstan citizenship since gaining independence

ASTANA. KAZINFORM Secretary of State Adilbek Dzhaksybekov has chaired the meeting of the Commission on Citizenship under the Kazakh President, the Akorda press service said.

"Above 948,000 people were granted Kazakhstan's citizenship since the country has gained its independence in 1991. The Head of State signed the decree to let representatives of various nationalities, arriving from the CIS and non-CIS countries in Kazakhstan receive our citizenship," he said. The meeting focused on organizational and legal issues on how to change our citizenship. Following the results of the meeting the commission took certain decisions and recommendations.
