Abai region’s pool of investment projects until 2028 includes 23 projects worth 2 trillion tenge, with creation of 7,000 jobs, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
According to governor Nurlan Urankhayev, the government passed the comprehensive plan for social and economic development of Abai region for 2023/27, incorporating 102 measures with 1.9 trillion tenge worth of investments.
74 measures for 286.1 billion tenge have been commenced this year, of which 7 ones to the tune of 4.9 billion tenge have been completed. The remaining projects are slated for implementation in 2025/27.
A pool of investment projects until 2028, which comprises 23 projects worth 2 trillion tenge, with creation of 7,000 jobs, was established. Of them, six investment projects worth 7.5 billion tenge have already been carried out, with 225 jobs created. 2 more projects worth 1.6 billion tenge are to be commissioned by the yearend, said governor Urankhayev, speaking at a briefing on Abai region’s social and economic development in the nine months of this year.
The region’s major investment projects include the construction of an ore processing plant nearby the Aidarly copper mine with 560.5 billion tenge worth of investment. The plant’s capacity is to stand at 50 million tons of ore per year. The project is expected to result in creation of 1,000 jobs.
The agreement was concluded by the government to build a major copper smelting plant worth 1.5 billion US dollars this June. Once built, the plant is to produce 300,000 tons of copper per year and provide 1,000 people with jobs.
The plant is set to be constructed nearby Aktogay village. The construction will lead to creation of a cluster merging the world’s major copper mine and a modern copper smelting plant. The plant will be able to satisfy the country’s need for processed copper raw material and copper cathode, used in the electric power industry, mechanical engineering and other industrial sectors, said Urankhayev.
Scheduled to be launched by the end of 2028, the plant is expected to produce refined gold, silver and sulfuric acid.
