About $1.13 billion invested into improvement of Kazakhstan roads
ASTANA. August 21. KAZINFORM In 2009, about $ 1.13 billion was invested into the development of roads of general use in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Transport and Communications Ministry told Trend Capital.
It is planned to repair more than 6,700 km through the fund. About 101.1 billion tenge (over $ 670) of the total amount of the fund will fell on the development of roads of national importance, the ministry said.
For this purpose, about $250 million or 99 percent of the plan was used in the first half of 2009, the same source said.
Work on the reconstruction of sections of the Almati-Astana-Petropavlovsk, Samara- Shymkent, Omsk-Maykapshagay, Astrakhan-Atyrau-Aktau-Turkmenbashi, Astana-Kostanay-Chelyabinsk and Taskesken-Bakhty roads with the length of 700 km in total is underway, the ministry said; Kazinform cites Trend News.
