Accelerated digitalization in near future to help increase effectiveness of shipment and minimize costs, Kazakh President

Kazakh President unveiled an Innovation Centre built by Kazakhstan Temir Zholy National Company JSC and Chinese Huawei, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the Akorda press service.

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy CEO Nurlan Sauranbayev said the centre is set up to develop the Smart Railways project. The Head of State got acquainted with the digital solutions to increase the efficiency of railway service. The projects are developed with the participation of the world’s leading IT and telecommunications companies.

As of today, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy National Company JSC and PSA developed and launched the seamless digital corridor along the Trans-Caspian route. The system saves time, makes transit as transparent as possible and makes Kazakhstan attractive for trade flows, the President said. The Wabtec locomotives efficient use pilot project is being developed, and infrastructure and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy services using cloud solutions, Big Data, the Internet of Things and AI is being updated.

In his speech, the Head of State highlighted the importance of the Transport-Logistics and Innovation Centres.

The Head of State said the project is launched as part of the One Belt, One Road global initiative. Kazakhstan fully supports the initiative put forward by Xi Jinping back in 2013 in Kazakhstan. The centre construction was completed in the shortest period thanks to the initiative. It is the result of a successful partnership between the two states. The project is expected to give a new impetus to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor and boost trade and economic cooperation in Eurasia. Specialists from Kazakhstan and China took part in the construction of the centre.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev positively assessed measures taken to turn Kazakhstan into a key transit hub on the continent. He believes it is necessary to make innovative decisions to reach true competitiveness.

At the recent Government meeting the President spotlighted digitalization of all economic sectors. Kazakhstan laid a solid foundation for introducing advanced IT solutions. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said the country’s railway sector should immediately join the data arms race. Accelerated digitalization soon will help increase effectiveness of shipment and minimize costs. It will give a potent impetus not only to the development of the transport and logistics sector but also to all industries.

The Head of State fully supports suggestions to attract domestic IT companies and establish efficient ties with the world’s IT companies.

In conclusion, the President of Kazakhstan thanked foreign companies that participate in the development of joint projects.

Notably, director general Huawei Technologies Kazakhstan Zhao Xu, chairman of Lianyungang Port Group Yang Long, Gokhan Bayhan Senior Vice President of Wabtec Corporation in CIS, Europe, Middle East and North Africa took the floor at the Innovation Centre platform.
