Accreditation of international observers in full swing in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan (CEC) has accredited more observers from foreign countries and international organizations to the presidential elections scheduled to be held in the country on April 26, 2015.

CEC member Tatyana Okhlopkova revealed the news at the session of the commission on Tuesday, April 7. "The commission accredited 52 observers from the CIS election observation mission, 7 observers from the TURKPA mission and 6 observers from foreign countries," Ms Okhlopkova said. In her words, as of April 3, the Central Election Commission has accredited 402 observers from foreign countries and international organizations. "The largest number of observers - 275 will represent the CIS member states. The CEC accredited 43 observers from ODIHR/OSCE and 64 observers from foreign countries. Besides, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan accredited 98 representatives of international mass media," she concluded. The CEC will continue the accreditation process of international observers until April 20, 2015.
