Acute respiratory virus infection cases up in Kostanay region
In comparison to the previous year, there has been an increase of 21% in the number of individuals who have fallen ill with acute respiratory virus infections. According to the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Kostanay region, this is associated with the seasonal upswing of the disease, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Despite the overall increase in the number of acute respiratory virus infections cases, the previous week saw a 25% decrease. A total of 3,124 cases of acute respiratory viral infections were registered. Of these cases, 54.32% (1,697 cases) affected are children under 14 years old.
“A total of 16,889 cases of ARVI have been registered in the Kostanay region since the beginning of the 2024-2025 epidemic season, representing a 21.1% increase compared to the same period of the previous epidemic season, which is 13,998 cases in October 2023. This growth is associated with the characteristic seasonality of the disease, with no outbreak observed,” the department stated.
Flu cases have not been reported in the region. To prevent the spread of the virus, 85,000 doses of the vaccine Grippol Plus, manufactured in Russia, have been purchased. As of today, over 70,000 individuals have been vaccinated against the flu.
