Admission of new SCO members to strengthen Organization ? B. Nurgaliyev

KAZINFORM /Talgat Baimukhambetov/ ?Admission of new members to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is impossible til all appropriate documents are signed by the heads od the states of the SCO countries?, Secretary General of the SCO Bolat Nurgaliyev has said, Kazinform reports.

He reminded of a commission given to the experts at the previous sessions of the heads of the states of the SCO countries to work out the SCO expansion criteria taking into consideration the countries? geographical position in the region, compliance of their policies with the SCO principles, commitments to join the Organization?s legal base. The SCO experts have already had a series of meetings on approval of the parameters of the documents providing for criteria and order of new members admission. B. Nurgaliyev emphasized the criterion according to which ?admission of new members to the SCO should strengthen the Organization but not create new problems?. ?We would like to maintain that positive image of the SCO gained over its eight years of activities?, the Sec Gen added.
