After loss to Australia, Kazakhstan keep their 2023 Billie Jean King Cup semis hopes alive

Team Kazakhstan was upset by Australia 1-2 at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, but still have a chance to battle through to the semifinals, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation. 

Kazakhstan’s Anna Danilina was edged out by Storm Hunter of Australia in straight sets in the day’s first match. Yulia Putintseva tied the score by stunning Aussie Kimberly Birrell in straight sets as well.

Hunter and Ellen Perez routed Danilina and Putintseva in the doubles rubber 6-1, 4-6, 10-5 deciding the fate of the showdown.

Captain Yaroslava Shvedova’s side still has a chance to propel to the semifinals – they have to defeat Slovenia with a score of 3-0 and 2-1 in their 10 November encounter.
