Agreement on Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan state border demarcation submitted to UN
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed an agreement on demarcation of the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan state border on December 22, 2022, as part of the state visit of the Head of State to Tashkent, and took effect on July 4, 2023, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The agreement resulted from many years of work on the international registration of the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan state border.
Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan met on September 25 on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. They stressed that the registration of the Agreement on demarcation of the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan state border is unprecedented for the Central Asian countries. The sides also highlighted the historical significance of the document which once again proves the commitment of both countries to the principles of good neighborliness and eternal friendship, the spirit of allied relations, and readiness for mutually beneficial cooperation to the benefit of common prosperity and contributes to further strengthening of security and stability in Central Asia.
