ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Agreement on the construction of nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan may be signed in the first half of 2015, says representative of Russia's Rosatom State Nuclear Corporation and counselor of the Russian Embassy in Kazakhstan Vitaly Ryabov.

"Currently, we are working on the details in the construction agreement. And I believe that it may be signed in the first half of 2015. Russia will construct," Vitaly Ryabov said at the 6th international exhibition "Nuclear energy and industry" in Astana on Tuesday. It is believed that the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan will begin in 2018. The town of Kurchatov in East Kazakhstan region and Ulken village in Almaty region have been chosen as the most suitable construction sites. Rosatom is keen to cooperate with Kazakhstan on this project. The Russian corporation and the Kazakh Ministry of Energy prepared and sent for approval the draft agreement on the construction of the plant back in September 2014.
