Aitmatov's 'Poplar in a Red Scarf' on theater stage

ASTANA. March 24. KAZINFORM A stage rendition of late Kyrgyz author Chinghiz Aitmatov's novel "My Poplar in a Red Scarf" will be the first play to be staged at the upcoming State Theaters-Sabancı International Theater Festival in Adana.

The Gabit Musrepov Kazakhstan State Theater will stage its production, based on Atıf Yılmaz's movie adaptation of Aitmatov's popular work, on March 28 and 29 at the Hacı Ömer Sabancı Cultural Center. The 13th State Theaters-Sabancı International Theater Festival opens on March 27, World Theater Day, and run until April 28, Today's Zaman reports.
