Akhmetov instructed to address issues of power supply for EXPO-2017 by alternative energy sources

ASTANA. February 5. KAZINFORM Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov gave instructions to address the issues of power supply of the EXPO-2017 in Astana with the use of alternative energy sources.

"The issues of supplying power for the EXPO-2017 by means of alternative energy sources should be taken into consideration while preparation for the EXPO-2017. We already have the right ideas and I think we will have many interesting projects not only around Astana but in the city itself by 2014," S. Akhmetov said.

In order to implement this task, the Prime Minister charged the Ministry of Environment Protection and the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies to hold joint and coordinated work and control over development of renewable energy.

"This January, the Government approved the Action Plan on development of alternative renewable energy in Kazakhstan till 2020. Executive bodies have to have a special responsibility for implementation of this plan," S. Akhmetov emphasized.

Besides, the Premier instructed to adopt all the amendments to the law on renewable energy sources by the second half of the year, primeminister. kz reported.

"The regions of the country and their governors will have a lot of work to do in terms of implementation of this policy after adoption of the bill and all legislative acts. A. Issekeshev and N. Kapparov jointly with the other executive bodies should complete amendment of the law on renewable energy sources," the Prime Minister noted.
